Encounter is excited to be hosting Swedish band ‘Big street m.p.’ as part of their Hope08 initiative. The band released their first record “acoustic kindergarten” in February 2007 and have already received a lot of good feedback for the songs Stay and Mercy remix (radio edit) from a lot of radio stations in the U.K, Australia, California, The Netherlands, Austria and so on. The style is a mix of pop, smooth jazz, west coast music and soul. If you are into these styles you will hear their influences but their debut cd also shows that they have developed their own unique style with blending musicianship. Sam Crawford and band will also be playing so take note and plan to be there.

As part of our HOPE08 year we are planning to run our first ever Youth Alpha. This course is a practical introduction to the Christian faith, aimed especially at those who aren’t regular churchgoers. It gives you the opportunity to explore the meaning of life or invite and bring along friends you know that would also be interested in exploring the meaning of life. The course will be facilitated by Lynne Martin & Phil Baillie and they can be contacted with ANY questions by emailing alpha@sbyouth.co.uk

Guys this event is for everyone at Encounter, E-cells and who attends SBC between the ages of 11-18. Its just to thank you all for helping serve our community this Christmas! So we as leaders are gonna serve you guys some breakfast! Come down any time between 10 and 12.30 on Christmas Eve and have some breakfast. Hope to see you there! If you want to go, there will be a sign up sheet at Encounter on Friday night and it would be great if you could just sign your name on it to give us an idea of how many to cater for. Thanks!

If you haven’t already picked up your copy of the jam packed programme for December - be sure to track one down, as it’s a busy month at Encounter. The usual Friday Night project and cells continue until the 14th/16th of December, and between them finishing and the new year beginning we are holding various outreach events - such as distributing coffee (as below) and carol singing in nearby care homes. To top it all off there is a Christmas eve breakfast at SBC and a New Years eve special event to bring in 2008! So there is plenty to look forward to…
